9/9 Local roundup: Falcons top Tigers in volleyball

Saint Stephen’s volleyball team came out on top during Tuesday’s clash of county rivals. The host Falcons defeated the Palmetto Tigers 25-15, 25-16, 23-25, 25-21 at Hogland Arena. enny Boothby had 24 service points and Melissa Johnson had 15 kills for Saint Stephen’s (2-1). Morgan Johnson had five aces and seven kills, and Maggie Holbert had 33 assists and 16 service points for the Falcons. Palmetto fell to 0-1.

CARDINAL MOONEY 3, BOOKER 0 — The host Cougars rolled, winning all three games by a score of 25-9. Genny Casagrande had five kills and six aces, and Erin Mooney finished with six kills, eight digs and four blocks for the Cougars (3-0).

BRADENTON CHRISTIAN 3, SEFFNER 0 — Abi Van Ostenbridge had 12 kills and five aces in the visiting Panthers’ 25-10, 25-20, 25-13 victory in a district match. Savannah Smith had four aces for BCS (3-0, 2-0).
