VENICE - The Venice High volleyball team knocked off nationally ranked Tallahassee Leon 26-24, 25-19, 25-19 on Friday night at the Indians' gym. Autumn Duyn led the way with 14 kills. Emily Daniels added 10. Daniels had 17 digs; Duyn had 14.
"We are a product of what you do over and over, and we want to make a statement to ourselves and to the state that we are for real," said Venice coach Brian Wheatley.
The undefeated Indians are on the road to play Tampa Berkeley Prep (4-0) , another nationally ranked team, at 3 p.m. today at the Sun Dome while Leon travels to Fort Lauderdale to play St. Thomas Aquinas. Venice will playing at St. Thomas Aquinas on Oct 14th.
Next week Venice will be playing District foe Port Charlotte (3-1) at home on Sept 15 at 7PM and on Sept 16 Venice will be at undefeated Cardinal Mooney. Game time 7PM.
