Indians win, eat Snickers
The Venice High volleyball team celebrated Wednesday’s victory over previously unbeaten Cardinal Mooney in an odd fashion. Eating miniature Snickers candy bars.
It was just another motivational tactic by Indians coach Brian Wheatley.
But this one was for the alumni, namely assistant coach Lori Sandberg and Misty Neutzling.
After the quick three-game victory over Cardinal Mooney, Venice ate Snickers while posing for a photo around the Cougars’ logo on the court.
Twelve years ago, it was well documented that the Indians would eat Snickers bars on the court of the Final 4 after winning the state title.
“On the last regular season game of the year, Mooney had absolutely wiped us out,” Wheatley said. “After sweeping us that year, they sat on our Indian at our gym and opened Snickers bars and ate it. That was more for our volleyball alumni.”
